Spinal Touch is a non-invasive treatment that works at realigning postural distortion by returning it to its natural centre of gravity, as well as assisting muscle relaxation. Bad posture can trigger various complaints including back pain, neck and shoulder pain, sciatic pain and other muscular and joint ailments. It provides a unique approach to the release of pain and the treatment of injuries, and can have very positive effects on many other chronic conditions.
This therapy is a gentle yet powerful treatment originally developed in America in the 1920s, but later revived in the 1950s by another American chiropractor, Dr Rosquist who learnt that muscles reign supreme because muscles move bones, and that tight muscles can put pressure on nerves, blood supply and lymph drainage.
Each treatment is tailored to the particular needs of the client with each session beginning with an assessment at the plumb line. The treatment itself involves a light touch ‘rub out’ technique applied to the muscles of the lower back, working up the spine to the neck and head area, and it is during this process that the spine is guided back to alignment. The treatment itself is deeply relaxing and many tend to nod off as it progresses, there is no ‘cracking’ or ‘manipulation’ in this process. In being guided back to postural normality, the body is then able to eliminate accumulated acidity and tension from the muscles, and this in itself can offer very rapid (sometimes instantaneous) pain relief.
The effects on the body of correct realignment can be truly remarkable and although it is best known for helping with back ailments and associated disorders, Spinal Touch Therapy can be of benefit in a far wider range of conditions and is especially effective with stress related conditions. It can have a beneficial effect on any individual suffering from symptoms of ill-health as it is a gentle, non-manipulative, holistic treatment which has a general life-enhancing effect. There are very few contra-indications making the treatment suitable for most people from young to old, and can also be combined with medications and other treatment types.
