I have been providing sports and remedial massage from Nuffield Health Twickenham since 2007, treating a huge variety of conditions presented by many clients from all walks of life.
I chose to train with Essentials for Health (EfH) who were then based at
St Thomas’s Post Graduate College, Central London after I discovered the benefits of Sports Massage when I started to suffer from various niggles sustained through playing too much badminton. Sports Massage, used together with other treatments, has also helped me to return to playing badminton having received whiplash from an RTA, then a year later, a torn knee ligament (MCL) while skiing.
As part of my membership to the Association of Physical & Natural Therapists I am required to provide details of my regular Continual Professional Development. To do this I regularly read the latest articles and in 2010 I started along the path of Myofascial Release. My training in Myofascial Release has revolutionised my treatments especially for neck, shoulder, hip and knee problems, with clients reporting huge benefits. The Fascia movement within the bodywork field is every evolving with new research coming to light all the time. In 2014 I gave administrative help to the organisers of the first ever British Fascia Symposium and attended the event. This was a huge success and is due to be held again in 2016.
Since qualifying in Sports Massage, I have worked at events such as the Surrey County Veterans Badminton Tournament, Shock Absorber Womans Duathlon (Bushy Park, Surrey), London Marathon and the Kingston Adidas Breakfast Run, and I am also an active member of Wimbledon Rackets & Fitness Club playing matches in the Surrey League. Many of my clients compete at varying levels and in events such as badminton, tennis, football, rugby, triathlon, duathlon, cycling and running.
During each of my treatments I use a combination of my professional skills are right to create a truly individually tailored treatment for each of my clients. I will assess you to find the cause of your pain or dysfunction, then work with you to effect a positive change. I tend not to state how long it will take for you to return to health as each person is completely different and it is dependent on the circumstances and factors of the individual. Many conditions do require more than one treatment, however if you can recover after just one treatment, then that’s great! I provide aftercare information and, where required, exercises and stretches so that you can help maintain and move forward with your rehabilitation, this usually means you recover more quickly and need less treatments. Please read what my clients say about me!
